Face the Facts

Face the Facts
Finally a skin care product that won't put you in the pore house!

By Linda Sierra

In the age of women not wanting to look their age the skin care industry is booming. You can easily drop a small fortune on skin care products. Products full of toxins and promises.

When it's all said and done the only thing tight is your wallet!!

What if we told you that you could find a product that will do all of this, plus taste good? A product you can find in the supermarket. You have to food shop anyway, right?

The product we’re talking about is coconut oil!

Extra Virgin, cold pressed, unrefined coconut oil has been used in the tropics as part of the diet for thousands and dare we say millions, of years. Coconut oil is a saturated fat primarily consisting of MCT's (medium chain fatty acids). The MCTs are not easily oxidized and do not cause free radical damage to the skin or body. Coconut oil also has anti bacterial/anti fungal properties, which makes it ideal for mouthwash, treating acne and yeast infections when consumed orally. It is also known to speed up the metabolism.

The product we're talking about is coconut oil!

Coconut oil can and should be used as a face wash, moisturizer, make up remover and even a hair conditioning treatment.  It is also our top oil to cook with. It's amazing in oatmeal and great as the fat in granola making.

You can give your food a more exotic flare and use coconut milks for curries and rice. Just make sure the coconut milk you use is high quality. Because coconut oil has a high smoke point, it's also great for frying.

Little research has been done in the U.S. regarding coconut oil because it's a food. And quite frankly, this secret could put a huge dent in the profits of large cosmetic companies.  If you want more proof check out this video from Dr. Oz on the superpowers of coconut oil.

My daughter and I also just eat a teaspoon a couple times a week for good measure. Yum!

Our favorite recipe with coconut oil is:

2 bunches of Swiss chard - cleaned and torn (my daughter does the tearing)

2 cloves of garlic – minced

Enough coconut oil to cover the bottom of your pan

Sprinkle a little Celtic sea salt on the chard, mix, cover and steam on a low flame for about 5 minutes, checking to get your desired firmness. I like it just wilted with all its nutrients still intact.

Some Like it Hot… Coconut oil can even be used in the bedroom as a powerful and all-natural lubricant.

No oil crisis here!  Just a lot of Happy endings…
